Dr. Elizabeth Garbrah-Aidoo (Founder & CEO)
Dr. Elizabeth A. E. Garbrah-Aidoo earned her MA and Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of Houston Texas, and her MBA at LaGrange College, LaGrange, Georgia. She is currently, a retired Associate Professor of Political Science. Until her retirement, she taught face to face at various universities for over 30 years, and on-line at University of Maryland University College, Walden University, and Indiana Wesleyan University. She has also been an AP Reader (Government) for the College Board/ETS since 2006. She is also a Fulbright Senior Scholar, a Fulbright Specialist Roster Candidate, Fulbright Specialist at Ashesi University, Ghana, and the CEO/President of a start-up non-profit organization called the Africa Institute of Medical Sciences &Technology (AIMST) that has the goal of building medical centers in rural Africa, starting with Ghana in West Africa.
As a Fulbrighter, Dr. Garbrah-Aidoo also participated in a Fulbright- Hays Seminar in China), and Fulbright Insight Tour to Cuba. She went to Monte Cristi in August as the representative for the pilot Envision Fulbright program. Her assignment was to dispense 400 reading glasses to those who needed them at the bateys in Monte Cristi. She has since then, dispensed about 900 reading glasses for Restoring Vision, Inc. and EnvisionFulbright in Abutia/Kloe District in the Volta Region of Ghana in March, and in Quito, Ecuador.
Jason Foster Butz (Lead Architect / Board Member)
Jason is a practicing architect currently living in Atlanta, Georgia. His work attempts to extract and reinterpret the beauty found in all of nature, represented with a sense of order amidst the chaos. Previously living in New Orleans, Saint Louis, and his hometown of Charleston, SC. During his academic career, Jason studied abroad in Barcelona and Buenos Aires. In addition to creating physical installations, his work in 2D media including pencil and ink drawings, paintings and photography. Other hobbies include music production, daily yoga practice, rock climbing, cooking, and playing with his 9-year old Aussie/Doberman, Reggie.


Dr. Cynthia Elliot (MD/Physician Board Member)
Dr Cynthia Lawrence Elliott obtained her undergraduate training at Manhattanville College and her medical degree at Meharry Medical College. She completed preclinical elective studies at Johns Hopkins University and clinical electives at Harvard Medical School. This was followed by an Internal Medicine Residency at New York Medical College and a Rheumatology/Immunology fellowship at Emory University. She is the co-director of North Georgia Rheumatology Group, with her sister, Dr Theresa Lawrence Ford. North Georgia Rheumatology Group an active clinical and research Rheumatology practice with sites on the campuses of Gwinnett Medical Center, at Lawrenceville and Johns Creek/Duluth Georgia. She serves as primary investigator and sub investigator in numerous research studies concerning Rheumatoid Arthritis, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Osteoarthritis, and Gout. She is an advocate for utilizing imaging techniques with ultrasound in diagnosing and treating patients with acute and chronic arthritis.

What does Africa Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology do?

The objectives of AIMST is to promote health best practices and fight diseases in rural countries throughout Africa by building, constructing/establishing post-secondary and tertiary institutions that will train the youth in Science, Technology, Engineering,
Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) programs, as well as train medical assistants, laboratory technicians, nurses, midwives, and
dental & optometry technicians to work in hospitals as well as do field work. The long-term goal is for our nonprofit to build a
university/medical school and/or a teaching and research hospital.
We will be providing services to reduce infant mortality and improve maternal health, and find solutions to
HIV/AIDS and malaria; build schools and recreational facilities for the students, health workers and their families; be involved
in the overall economic empowerment and improvement of quality of life for residents in about a 50mile radius from the project
sites; provide job and residential opportunities to the community and medical personnel in order to reduce brain drain; and
extend the project to other rural areas in Ghana and Sub-Saharan Africa.
